Drug or alcohol treatment is sometimes a part of a criminal justice clients sentence for the crime they have committed. In order to get these clients the treatment they need, there are a few steps that should be followed before they can enroll into a drug or alcohol rehabilitation center. First, they need to determine if they are eligible for drug rehab during their time in the Union, Mississippi criminal justice system. Their case is evaluated by a panel who determines if they are in need of drug treatment services and if so how much and what type is required. Furthermore, when they are screened for substance abuse problems, the client is also evaluated for mental health problems as well. Their drug addiction problem, mental health concerns, criminal activity, sentence length and previous substance abuse history are all determining factors in the creation of the rehabilitation plan.
