Drug or alcohol treatment is sometimes a part of a criminal justice clients court sentence. In order to provide these individuals the treatment they need, there are a few steps that need to be followed before they can enroll into a drug treatment facility. First, they need to determine if they are eligible for drug treatment while involved in the Oceana, West Virginia criminal justice system. Their case is evaluated by a panel who determines if they are in need of treatment and if so how much and what type is necessary. Additionally, when the client is screened for substance abuse problems, the client is also evaluated for mental health issues as well. Their drug addiction problem, mental health issues, criminal activity, sentence length and previous treatment history are all determining variables in the creation of the rehabilitation plan.
